Public Mirror, 2019
Household mirror, steel cable

Mirrors within the domestic environment, such as medicine cabinets in the bathroom, full-length mirrors by the closet, and mirrors by the front door all mark moments when a person privately prepares one's body to be seen in public. Public Mirror installs these domestic objects in public space, making obvious the public’s influence on how we see ourselves in private. The mirror in public inevitably becomes a shared object, reflecting not just yours but someone else’s body. How does another person look at themselves? What do we see when we look at ourselves together?
